Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: <br />The primary purpose of this organizational unit is to manage, lead and direct the financial <br />and budgetary operations for Lee County Department of Social Services. This unit is a <br />multiple function unit that also has responsibility for accounts payable, accounts <br />receivable, purchasing, information technology and all computer access security. <br />B. The primary purpose of this position <br />Highly responsible professional level accounting work involving considerable <br />independent judgment in preparing the annual budget, reading, interpreting, and <br />implementing County or department fiscal policy. Work involves monitoring expenditures <br />and revenue in order to maximize projected revenues to be received. Work is performed <br />independently under the general supervision of a higher level director and is evaluated by <br />observation and through periodic conferences. <br />This position serves in an administrative capacity regarding all fiscal operations within the <br />department. The person assigned to this position is responsible for planning, researching, <br />developing, preparing, decision-making and overseeing the Department of Social <br />Services' budget, which is approximately $18,119,286 annually. The Social Service's <br />budget is by far the largest and most complex of any department within Lee County <br />Government. <br />The expanded role over the last few years requires this position to be responsible for <br />coordination and collaboration with Income Maintenance staff and Child Welfare staff in <br />making all fiscal decisions.
