BK -00027 PG:0839 <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Economic Development Director Bob Joyce gave a monthly report/update and stated he is <br />working on nine (9) active projects. He stated that GKN will be coming back to their old building in the <br />Industrial Park and adding 100+ jobs in the near future. He further extended an invitation to the Board <br />to attend the upcoming Small Business Expo scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd at the Dennis <br />Wicker Civic Center. <br />At this time the Board took a 10 -minute recess. <br />Upon returning from break, with all Board members present, Chair Dalrymple called the meeting <br />back to order. <br />At 6 p.m. the Board conducted a joint public hearing with the Lee County Planning Board to <br />consider text amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Community Development <br />Director Marshall Downey outlined the proposed amendment to the UDO to add a new land use <br />category for "Mining and Quarries, Oil and Gas Extraction" and to revise/update the existing land use <br />category for "Mining and Quarries". <br />Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. <br />The following spoke and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: <br />1. Estelle Bullard, 107 Pleasure Lane, Sanford <br />Chair Dalrymple closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Frazier moved to defer action on the text amendments presented for the UDO. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Frazier moved for the Board to consider a moratorium on fracking and directed <br />staff to bring one to the Board at their October 5th meeting for consideration.
