BK-00027 PG: 0835 <br />serve on all the volunteer fire department boards and one to serve on the Cape Fear Fire Department <br />Board. Mr. Andrews stated that in 2014 Commissioners appointed Commissioner Kirk Smith and <br />himself to serve on the Fire Department Relief Fund Board and Commissioner Amy Dalrymple to serve <br />on the Cape Fear Department Board along with Commissioner Smith. After discussion, Commissioner <br />Reives moved to reappoint Commissioner Kirk Smith, Donald Andrews, and Amy Dalrymple to serve on <br />the above referenced Boards. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the purchase of new vehicles for Parks and Recreation. Parks and <br />Recreation Director John Payne asked the Board to approve the purchase of a new 2015 Ford Fusion <br />from Capital Ford Wilmington (state contract) in the amount of $17,801.00, and a new 2015 7 - <br />passenger Dodge Caravan from Ilderton Dodge (state contract) in the amount of $20,845.00. Both <br />vehicles will replace older vehicles in excess of 100,000 miles that are in poor condition. After <br />discussion, Commissioner Frazier moved to approve the above two purchases for Parks and <br />Recreation as presented. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the purchase of new vehicles for the Health Department. Health Director <br />Terrell Jones asked the Board to approve the purchase of a new 2015 Ford Fusion in the amount of <br />$17,925.00 from Tindol Ford, Gastonia (state contract), and a new 2015 Ford Focus in the amount of <br />$15,901.00 from Capital Ford Wilmington (state contract). The Ford Fusion will replace a 2003 Ford <br />Crown Victoria and the Ford Focus will replace a 1999 Ford Ranger Truck at Environmental Health. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Smith moved to approve the above vehicle purchases for the Health <br />Department. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered acceptance of Project Lazarus Coalition Funds. Health Director Terrell <br />Jones stated the Health Department had applied for and was awarded funds, not to exceed $10,000, to <br />carry out the following activities: <br />a. Develop a speaker's bureau to educate the provider community on <br />safer opioid prescribing, <br />b. Purchase nalozone kits and provide training to public health nurses <br />at the local health department, <br />c. Train law enforcement officers on naloxone use and purchase kits <br />for officers to carry, <br />d. Purchase two prescription drug drop boxes. One will be placed at a <br />local pharmacy and the other will be portable and will be used <br />by local law enforcement at community events, and <br />e. Partner with the local health department to develop education materials <br />5 <br />
