Boom 7 PuE U5 <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that he had met with the <br />representatives of the various fire departments and they were in dire financial <br />need and were requesting an increase in their monthly allotments of-$Z5. 00 per <br />month. After discussion and review, of the County's finances, Commissioner <br />Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />RESOLVED that the sum of $480. 00 be appropriated from the un- <br />appropriated surplus in the general fund to the Fire Control Activity in the <br />special general fund for the purpose of increasing the monthly allotments by <br />$20. 00 per month for each fire department. Commissioner William H. Cooper <br />seconded the motion and it was adopted by a.majority vote on roll call, as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Rogers, G. Wicker and F. Wicker <br />NAY: White <br />Commissioner Rogers reported on the state of repair of the Armory <br />building and the Commission directed the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds <br />to ascertain the cost of repairs for the doors to said building. <br />At the request of Commissioner White, the Superintendent of Buildings <br />and Grounds, was also directed to make a survey of the needed repairs to the <br />Courthouse Annex Building. <br />The Chairman reported he had received.a letter from Miss Mary <br />Estelle Doyle, the Home Economics Extension Agent, which listed personal <br />items belonging to her which were located in the County's Home Ecomoics <br />Department and desired that official notice be taken of her ownership of these <br />items. The items are as follows: <br />1 Remington Rand Typewriter <br />1 Fireside stool 23" x 11" x 12" <br />2 Three-drawer green chests - 24" x 24" x 31" <br />1 Four-drawer metal filing cabinet <br />1 Picture 21" x 17" - Scene <br />The Chairman appointed Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers as the <br />Commissioner in charge of Water and Air Resources for Lee County. <br />The Chairman reminded the members of the Board that there would be <br />a meeting with the Mental Health Authority People at Dorothea Dix Hospital in <br />Raleigh, on March 11, 1971. <br />The Chairman told the members of the Board they were invited to <br />attend the Banquet of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce on March 2, 1971, <br />as the guests of the Chamber. <br />The Chairman reminded the members of the Board that the Committee <br />of 100 studying School Merger would hold a meeting on Monday, March 1, at the <br />Courthouse Annex; <br />The statement of the Carolina Appraisal Company for payment of <br />$7, 022. 37 bill under the re-valuation contract was presented to the Board and <br />upon motion of Commissioner Gordon Wicker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Rogers, it was unanimously RESOLVED to pay said statement. Those voting <br />for the resolution were Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. <br />Wicker. No one voted against it. <br />Commissioner White moved that the Carolina Appraisal Company <br />be authorized to re-work the 2100 property cards in accordance with the new <br />guidelines established by the Board and they would be paid the actual costs of <br />said work. Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />5. <br />
