BOOK 7 PAGE 54 5-1/ O <br />of a Forester for Lee County, and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the <br />motion. Upon a roll call vote, the motion was adopted by a majority vote with <br />Messrs. Cooper, Rogers,. White and G. Wicker voting for it, and Chairman F. Wicker <br />voting against it. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker appointed Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker to <br />coordinate activities in recognition of Senior Citizens Day.. And the Board, upon <br />motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Perry White, <br />unanimously resolved to designate Sunday, May 23rd, as Senior Citizens Day. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker reported that he had received correspondence <br />as follows:. <br />(a) Representative Jimmy Love stated.the leaders in the General Assembly <br />seemed to oppose increasing jurors pay at this session of the General Assembly. <br />(b) That Industry Appreciation Week would be in October and the <br />Chairman designated Commissioner Cooper to coordinate the activities of the Board <br />in observance of this occasion. <br />(c) That the Farm Bureau was supporting a proposal on special <br />consideration of agricultural property in revaluation years. <br />The Chairman advised the Board that appointments need to be made to the <br />Sandhill Community Action Program Board for a period of one year from May 26, <br />1971, and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to appoint W. F. Foye, Franklin <br />D. Wicker and John Howard to the Board of the Sandhill Community Action Program. <br />The Chairman stated it was.time to consider the Ordinance regulating <br />the dispensing of motor fuels to the public. The Ordinance is as follows: <br />"WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Lee County recognize <br />that motor fuels such as gasoline and diesel fuel are highly combustible liquids; and <br />"WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Lee County has determined <br />that the dispensing of motor fuels to the public without attendants or human supervision <br />constitutes a hazard to the health and safety of the public; <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County, as follows: <br />1. All motor fuel dispensing devices in Lee County shalLhave at least <br />one attendant on duty within 100 feet of the device dispensing said fuel at all times <br />when such devices are open to the public. Said attendant shall be available to observe <br />and control the dispensing of such fuels while such fuels are available to the public <br />and to supervise pumping, if necessary, to the end that such fuels be dispensed to <br />eliminate the risk of bodily injury and property damage. Said attendant shall have <br />available on the premises and within 100 feet of the dispensing device at least one <br />fire extinguisher suitable for and effective against fires in flammable liquids, gases, <br />and greases and against fires which involve energized electrical equipment where the <br />electrical nonconductivity of the extinguishing media is of importance and which <br />extinguisher shall be capable of extinguishing a 6 square foot area of flammable liquid <br />fire in liquid of a depth greater than one-eighth (1/8th) inch. <br />"2.. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />adoption and publication as required by law. <br />"3. Any person, firm or corporation violating this Ordinance shall <br />
