Wicker moved that the statement so <br />signed be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that the Clerk be <br />directed to file the original statement in his office and to publish a copy of <br />the statement in the manner provided by law. <br />Commissioner•William H. Cooper seconded the motion and the <br />motion was unanimously adopted. <br />A written request was presented to the Board from the Sanford <br />Tobacco Board of Trade requesting funds for advertising the SanfordTcbacco <br />Market; however, the Board took no action on such request. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that the sum of $87. 00 <br />be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Civil Defense <br />Fund to be used for the purpose of paying the unused annual leave of the retiring <br />director. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and Fr. Wicker <br />NAY: None <br />Mr. Robert Newcombe, Engineer„ appeared before the Board <br />to discuss the plans for the proposed sewer line to be extended from the City of <br />Sanford to the Williams Industrial complex. Commissioner Cooper moved that <br />the recommendations of the Engineer be accepted and that the actions of the <br />Chairman and other County Officials in joining with the City of Sanford in <br />applying for a Federal Grant of $56, 200. 00 to be applied on said sewer line <br />costs be approved. Commissioner J.'Eugene Rogers seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The budget request from the Lee-Harnett Mental Health Center in <br />the amount, of $24, 000. 00 for Lee County's share was tentatively approved upon a <br />motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner White and unanimously <br />adopted. <br />There being no further business to come before the Session, it <br />was adjourned, sine die. <br />FRANKLIN D.
