00( 7 PAGESS <br />Commissioner Perry White nominated Mr. J. F. Hockaday <br />to serve as a member of the Youth Development Commission to serve for <br />the unexpired portion of Mrs. J. Shelton Wicker's term which expires <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the nominations be closed and Mr. Hockaday be approved by acclamation. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers seconded the motion and same was duly <br />carried and Mr. Hockaday was elected to fill said position. <br />Mr. Bob Newcombe of the firm of Boney and Newcomlw, Eng- <br />ineers, appeared before the Board and discussed the water and sewer projects. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner W. H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />J. Eugene Rogers, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was <br />resolved to authorize the Chairman and Clerk to proceed with the obtaining of <br />rights of way for said project,. getting said plans in final state, and obtaining <br />the required approval of said plans, and doing all things that are necessary in <br />order to have said project completed. <br />Mr. Bryant R. Johnson appeared before the Board and presented <br />a request that the roads in the Berkley Place Subdivision, Brentwood Subdivision, <br />Longview Acres Subdivision Section 2, and Brookhaven Subdivision, be taken <br />over and added to the Secondary Road System. Mr. Johnson reported that all of <br />the roads in these subdivisions had been installed and paved by the private <br />developers in conformity with State standards. After discussion, Commissioner <br />J. Eugene Rogers moved the adoption of the following resolutions, with respect <br />to the roads in each of said subdivisions: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with <br />the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, <br />requesting that the above described road, the location of <br />which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be <br />added to the Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of <br />the opinion that the above described road should be added <br />to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum stand- <br />ards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission <br />for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE,. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, that the State Highway Commission is hereby <br />requested to review the above described road, and to take <br />over the road for maintenance if it meets established stand- <br />ards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded.the resolution and upon a <br />voteit was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Bryant R. Johnson also spoke against having the County <br />zoned. <br />The Sheriff's Department reported to the Board that the following <br />deputies had accumulated overtime which had to be approved by the Board before <br />compensation could be paid for such work: <br />Ernest Medlin 2 days July 3 and 4 <br />Julian Thomas 2 days July 7 and 8 <br />Billy Bryant 2 days July 9 and 10 <br />Harold Thomas 1 day July 11 <br />
