bony T min° 0 <br />Mr. Frank Lewis, representative of the North Carolina Association <br />of County Commissioners appeared before the Board and reminded the <br />Board of the Association's annual convention to be held in Asheville the <br />following week and invited all of the Commissioners to attend. <br />Messrs. Wayne Crowson, Atlas Cox, Roy Utley and Wilbur <br />L. Godwin, Aldermen of the City of Sanford, appeared before the Board and <br />requested the Commissioners to initiate steps to institute a county-wide <br />recreation system. The Commissioners directed the County Attorney to confer <br />with the City Attorney per agreement to carry out the proposal to be submitted <br />to the Board for its consideration at the earliest possible meeting. <br />Dr. B. T. Brooks, Secretary of Lee County Board of Education <br />appeared before the Board and requested a re-appropriation of the $6, 000.00 <br />now being held for a school site option to the capital outlay budget for classroom <br />construction. Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, duly seconded by Commissioner <br />Cooper, it was resolved to transfer the $6,000.00 appropriated for the school <br />site option for classroom construction (fiscal code 681.3) within the capital outlay <br />budget for the Lee County Board of Education. The motion was carried by <br />unanimous roll call vote as follows: <br />Aye: William H. Cooper J. Eugene Rogers Perry White <br />Gordon A. Wicker Franklin D. Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />Dr. Brooks presented to the Chairman, thedeadfrom the Lee County <br />Board of Education to Lee County for the New Hope school property. <br />The Petition for the improvement of Secondary Road 1205, in the <br />vicinity of Olivia, was presented to the Board for consideration. Commissioner <br />Cooper moved the adoption of the following Resolution:' <br />"WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County (f Lee has <br />investigated the condition df the above described road which is now a part of <br />the system of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which <br />is indicated in red on the attached map; ;and` <br />"WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said <br />road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said <br />road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this <br />county. <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of.County Commissioners <br />hereby approved and request that the State Highway Commission make the <br />following improvements in the above described road: Paved. " <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion, and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mr. J. Fletcher Rosser appeared before the Board and requested <br />that additional appointments be made to the Good Neighbor Council. The matter <br />was taken under advisement. <br />The monthly bills as listed by the County Accountant were considered, <br />and upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Rogers, the <br />payment of the bills as listed was unanimously approved. <br />2. <br />
