BOOK 8 FACE 2 <br />"North Carolina, Lee County <br />To the Tax Collector of Lee County: <br />You are hereby authorized, empowered and <br />commanded to collect the taxes set forth in the tax books, <br />filed in the office of the Tax Supervisor and in the tax receipts <br />herewith delivered to you, in the amounts and from the <br />taxpayers likewise therein set forth, and such taxes are hereby <br />declared to be a first lien on all real property of the respective <br />taxpayers in Lee County, and this order shall be a full and <br />sufficient authority to direct, require and enable you to levy on and <br />sell any real or personal property of such taxpayers, for and on <br />account thereof, in accordance with law. <br />Witness my. hand and official seal, this 7th day of <br />September, 1971. <br />Franklin D. Hoyle <br />Clerk of Board " <br />The County Attorney brought to the Board's attention the fact that a <br />hearing would be held in the Bankruptcy Court on September 15, 1971, for an <br />order distributing the funds received by the Trustee for Roberts Company for sale <br />of land in the widening of U. S. Highway 421. The Board authorized and directed <br />the County Attorney to attend the meeting and to request that all of the funds received <br />be paid to the County to apply upon its tax claims in accordance with the priority <br />afforded by the Bankruptcy Laws. <br />The monthly bills as listed by the County Accountant and supported <br />by purchase invoices were presented to the Board and upon motion of Commissioner <br />Cooper, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to authorize <br />the payment of said bills. <br />The Clerk reported to the Board that the bond order entitled "Bond <br />Order authorizing the issuance of $50, 000 Sanitary Landfill Bonds of the County <br />of Lee, which had been introduced at the meeting of the Board held on August 16, <br />1971, had been published in the Sanford Daily Herald, with notice that the Board of <br />Commissioners would hold a public hearing thereon on September 7, 1971, at 10 <br />o'clock A. M. <br />Commissioner White moved that the Board proceed to hold a public <br />hearing on the Bond Order. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker, and was unanimously adopted. <br />At 10 o'clock A. M., the Chairman announced that the Board would <br />hear any citizen or taxpayer who desired to be heard with respect to the bond order. <br />At the direction of the Chairman, the Clerk read the bond order and the published not- <br />ice of hearing. <br />After the Board had heard all persons who requested to be heard, <br />Commissioner White moved that the public hearing be closed. <br />The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />- 2 - <br />
