I Boos 8 ~ArE 12 by Commissioner White, it was unanimously resolved to pay the bills presented in the amount of-$12, 336. 83, from the General Fund which is to be reimbursed from the proceeds from the sale of bonds. The resolution was unanimously adopted upon a roll call vote wherein Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. The Chairman reported that the Appraisal Company had completed 98% of its w6rk and its statement was in accordance with its contract and had been approved byithe Tax Supervisor. Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon Wicker, seconded by (Commissioner Cooper, it was unanimously resolved to pay the statement in! the amount of $1, 170.40. Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. Commissioner Cooper gave a report on the Ambulance situation and there was a discussion about ambulance rental. Mr. Hugh Brewer, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, was asked to take steps to kill the vegetation under the steps of the parking building adjoining the Methodist Church. Commissioner White outlined the proposed improvements to the Courthouse Annex where the Agricultural Extension Services are housed. Commissioner White was authorized to proceed with planned improvements within the existing budget appropriation and to secure any necessary wall rights for the contemplated storage building to house the voting machines. Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, it was resolved to appropriate the sum of $500. 00 from the Emergency and*Contingency Fund to the Building and Grounds Fund for the purpose of paying for the painting done at the New Hope Juvenile Center. Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White,. Wicker and G. Wicker, all voted for it and no one voted against it. The Board authorized the Superintendent of Building and Grounds to secure bids for paving on the parking deck on Steele Street. Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to authorize Commissioner William H. Cooper to negotiate a suitable rental arrangement for an ambulance for use by the County'. ' The Chairman read to the Board a letter received from the Department of Social Services concerning the availability of funds for improvement of con- finement facilities: No action was taken upon this information. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported to the Board that there was a house and lot available adjoining the site where the Department of Social Services is housed and that he recommended theBoard investigate the possibility of purchasing the site and utilizing it as additional office space for the Department of Social, Services. Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following resolution pertaining to the levying'of a 1% local sales and use tax: "A Resolution Levying A One Per Cent (1%) Local Sales and Use Tax and Prescribing the Method of Distribution of the Net Proceeds within Lee County.
