Seymour, Attorney, appeared before the Board <br />on behalf of Mr. James Seymour, and requested permission to cut an entry <br />way from the Seymour Building onto the second deck of the County Parking <br />Building. Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cooper, it was resolved to grant a license to Mr. Seymour to make such entry <br />way but it was clearly understood the license could be revoked at any time. <br />The resolution and license were granted by a majority vote and <br />Commissioner RogerIs voted "no": <br />I <br />Mr. Lynn Hunt of the North Carolina Employment Security Comm- <br />ission office in Sanford, appeared before'the Board to discuss job qualifications <br />and specifications for-positions which would be created and funded by Federal, <br />Grants. <br />Commi Isioner Cooper moved that the sum of $1,120. 00 be approp- <br />riated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Ambulance Service Fund <br />for the purpose of purchasing a used ambulance which had been acquired on an <br />emergency basis, and that the purchase of said ambulance as an emergency <br />measure be ratified and approved at the total price of $7, 120. 00.. Commissioner <br />Perry White seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker all <br />voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Chairman reported that a letter had been received from Mr. I. L. <br />Clayton, CommissionIer of Revenue, acknowledging to the Board receipt of a <br />notice that the County, had adopted a 1 ~ sales and use tax. <br />I <br />There was a discussion about landfill sites and the Clerk was <br />requested to write Mr. Hubert Cole and see what sites he had available. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon Wicker,' it was RESOLVED to instruct the Clerk to mail a letter to the . <br />Lee County Rescue Squad advising them that it was the Board's intention to make <br />application for a grant to purchase a new ambulance as soon as applications could <br />be received and the freeze upon Federal money had been lifted, and in any event, <br />to acquire a new ambulance within a reasonable period of time, whether or not <br />such grant was available. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />Rogers, it was RESOLVED to direct a letter-to the City Board of Education, <br />advising them that the Board intended to provide for the purchase of five new <br />buses in the capital outlay budget for the next fiscal year and that the City Board <br />should make this fact known to the appropriate State authorities and request the <br />loan of two additional buses for the remainder of the present school term. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it <br />was adjourned sine die. <br />1 <br />Chairman Franklin D.
