BOBK $ PnE 31 <br />3. <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved that the County purchase the property of <br />John M. Burns and Harold Weathers known as the old White place formerly owned by P. H. <br />Rogers for $25, 500.00, with $10, 000.00 to come from bond proceeds and grant and <br />$13, 500.00 from the General Fund appropriation for capital improvements. Commissioner <br />White seconded the motion and it was adopted by a majority vote. Messrs.. Cooper, <br />White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker voted for it and Mr. Rogers abstained from voting. <br />There was a discussion about office space and arrangements were made <br />for the temporary use of space by the. Administrative staffs of the Boy Scout and <br />Girl Scout organizations. <br />There was a discussion about equipment for use at the sanitary landfill site. <br />The Board was of the opinion the equipment listed in the survey made for the County <br />would not be heavy enough to do-the job effectively. <br />Commissioner Cooper reported to the Board that advertisement for bids <br />for an ambulance had been made and would be received on Tuesday, January 4, 1972. <br />Mr. William M.. Arnold, Jr. appeared before the Board and requested <br />permission for Carolina Trace, Inc. to attach a private sewerage line from Carolina <br />Trace Development. Commissioner Cooper moved the Carolina Trace, Inc. be <br />granted permission to tap on to the sewer line near Carr Creek, subject to the approval <br />of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Sanford and compliance with any conditions <br />imposed by them and provided that all work be done without cost or liability to the <br />County of Lee.. Commissioner White seconded the motion and it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Clerk was directed to advise the City of Sanford authorities of the action taken. <br />The maintenance contract for the elevators in the County office building <br />was presented to the Board and reviewed. <br />. Commissioner Rogers reported on the arrangements for a Xerox copying <br />machine for use in the County Accountant's office. <br />. Commissioner Rogers reported on his activities to utilize the available <br />funds under the Emergency Employment Act. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved the contract with the Otis Company for <br />maintenance of the elevators in the County Office Building be approved and the Chairman <br />be authorized to execute it on behalf of the County.. Commissioner Gordon Wicker <br />seconded the.motion and upon a vote it was unanimously approved. <br />The County Attorney reported the lease of the Lee P. Thomas house on <br />Evergreen Lane had been prepared and the Chairman was authorized to execute it on <br />behalf of the County. <br />Mr. Hugh Brewer,_ Superintendent of County Buildings, appeared before <br />the Board and was instructed to comply with the federal safety regulations with <br />respect to all County employees. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Civil Defense Director, appeared before the <br />Board and invited the members to attend the winter' conference of Civil Defense <br />officials to beheld at the-Holiday Inn in Sanford on January 10, 1972. <br />Mr.E. M. Underwood, Auditor, appeared before the Board and <br />discussed the fiscal operations of the Recreation Department. <br />Commissioner Perry White moved the adoption of the following Resolution <br />with respect to the service of Miss Allie M. McGilvary as secretary in the office <br />of the County Agricultural Extension Service: <br />
