BOOK I PnE 29 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING- <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR--- <br />COUNTY OF LEE. NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1971 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, corner of Steele and Wicker Streets,. Sanford, N.. C., at <br />9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, December 20, 1971, in accordance with the motion <br />of adjournment. Those present were: Commissioners W. H. Cooper, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Perry White, Gordon Wicker, and Franklin D. Wicker. The Chairman <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting open for business. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on December 6th, 1971, were <br />approved and ordered recorded. <br />. There was a general discussion about the proposed sanitary landfill site <br />in Greenwood Township. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip, County Extension Chairman,, appeared before the Board <br />and discussed hiring a replacement for Miss Allie M. McGilvary who has resigned <br />as secretary in the County Agricultural Extension Office after 25 years' service. Mr. <br />Haislip advised the Board he may have to offer a salary in the mid-range of steps for <br />the,authorized grade in order to hire an experienced secretary. <br />Mr. Haislip advised the Board the money appropriated for use by the <br />Sandhill Area Development Association had not been spent and was no longer needed for <br />that purpose. Commissioner Cooper. moved the $100.00 appropriated for use by the <br />Sandhill Area Development Association be transferred to the funds for office supplies <br />in the appropriation for the Agricultural Extension Service., Commissioner Rogers <br />seconded the motion and it was unanimously adopted. Messrs.. Cooper, Rogers, White, <br />Gordon Wicker and Franklin Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Mr. Haislip invited the Board to be the guests of the, Agricultural Extension <br />Service on Monday, January 17, 1972, for lunch at 12:00 noon. <br />Mr. Haislip also reported the renovations on the Courthouse Annex were <br />progressing satisfactorily. <br />Commissioner Cooper presented the following Resolution with respect <br />to adding the proposed road to the City of Sanford's new sewerage treatment plant to the <br />State maintained system: <br />"WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the <br />above described road,. the location of which has been indicated in <br />red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and <br />"WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that <br />the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, <br />if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the <br />State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission <br />is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take <br />over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and <br />criteria. " <br />
