recorded upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon Wicker and a unanimous vote of the Board. <br />The Board discussed the appointments to the Recreation Commission, and <br />Commissioner Cooper asked that all persons interested submit a written resume <br />of the persons advocated for appointment to this Commission. The Board instructed <br />the Clerk to redraft the Recreation Commission Resolution to allow for an ex officio <br />member from the Board of Commissioners. <br />A representative of the Champion Map Company appeared before the Board <br />and solicited an order for a map to be produced by his company which will show Lee <br />and Moore Counties and the municipalities thereunder. Commissioner Cooper was <br />requested to check on the County's need for this type of map. <br />Written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was submitted to the <br />Board. <br />The written report of Nathan Crissman, Lee County Tax Collector, was <br />submitted to the Board. <br />The quarterly written report of the Veteran Service Officer was submitted to <br />the Board. <br />The Chairman advised the members there would be a meeting of Research <br />Triangle Regional Planning Commission in the Archives and History Auditorium in <br />Raleigh concerning Farm Home Administration water and sewer plan }ung program. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Civil Defense Director, was requested to attend the meeting <br />and report to the Board on the activities and recommendations of the conference. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to an open house to be held by the <br />National Guard on Thursday, January 6th, and advised the members they had been <br />requested to attend and meet General Davis, the Adjutant General of North Carolina. <br />There was 'a discussion about allocation of parking spaces at the County's <br />office building. Mr. Brewer,. Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, was requested <br />to make a survey of the present allocation of spaces and the needs of the various <br />agencies housed in the County Office Building on Wicker Street. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper'left the meeting and did not participate <br />in the further activities of the Board. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the sum of $900.00 be appropriated <br />from the Emergency and Contingency fund to the Civil Defense appropriation to provide <br />funds for additional salary for the Director., - additional Social Security, additional <br />retirement and travel expense. Wicker ded~" GaKas <br />,eP a~d\et <br />G~ <br />After investigation and review of the bids filed, the Board resolved to <br />reject all bids submitted for an ambulance vehicle and directed the Clerk to advertise <br />for more bids to be received at its next meeting. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, it was resolved to adjourn the <br />meeting until 9:30 Monday, Jan. 17, 1972 in the Commissioners' room in the County Office <br />Building.
