0 Representatives of the Greenwood Water Association met with the Board and discussed their attempts to increase the size of their water lines which will go from the City of Sanford to the Lemon Springs area. Representatives of the J. I. Case Company, presented material and a film strip showing equipment sold by their company for use at land fill sites. Upon motion of Commissioner J.. Eugene Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to extend the non-penalty period for tax listing through the 3rd day of March, 1972. Mr. Tom Haislip, Chairman of the Lee County Agricultural Extension Department, appeared before the Board and presented the written report on the activities of his department. There was an extended discussion about a soil survey and map of the county, and Mr. Haislip is to set up a general interest meeting to determine the need for such a survey. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the appointment of a family planning task force to consist of the following persons: Dr. Ben Brooks, Mrs. Louise Dowdy, Mr. Gordon A. Wicker, Dr. W. H. White, Jr., Mrs. Frances Kelly, Miss Mary Estelle Doyle,. Mr. Mack Worley, Mr. C. T. Fulkerson, Mrs. Louise Burkey,. Mrs. Maggie Fox, Mrs. Sammie Pearson, Rev. Hampton, Mrs. Gloria Pickard, and Mrs. Chloie Gulledge Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted and the persons' named were declared to be duly appointed by the Chairman: Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported to the Board that he had been in contact with Dr. Garvin of the Health Department and Dr. Garvin was requesting that an addition be built to provide additional space and . facilities at the Health Department. e The audit of-Lee County Hospital was presented to the Board and copies distributed to each member thereof. Commissioner.Cooper was authorized by the Board to initiate procedures to gain'approval for the purchase of another ambulance for use by the Lee County Ambulance Service. , Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the County Accountant was authorized to advance $200. 00 to the representatives of the Ambulance Service for use as travel- ing expense in going to Memphis, Tennessee, to pick up the ambulance recently purchased. The written report of Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, was presented to the Board and copies distributed. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported on his meeting with the group organizing a program for the Senior Citizens of Lee County. Upon motion of Commissioner William.H. Cooper, duly seconded by Commissioner Perry White, and unanimously adopted, Chairman Franklin D. Wicker and Commission Gordon A. Wicker were authorized to obtain plans for Page 5
