three members for terms expiring June 30, 1.975. Thereafter <br />appointments of Recreation Commission members shall be made on <br />or before the first day of July of the,year in which the term off <br />appointment expires, and shall be effective as of that date; and'the <br />terms of office shall be three years each. All appointments shall be for <br />the term stated or until their successors are appointed and qualify for <br />office except that the term of a member of the Board of Commissioners <br />who serves ex officio as a member of the Recreation Commission shall <br />expire on the same date his term as a member of the Board of Comm- <br />. . <br />issioners shall expire. Appointments to fill vacancies shall be made <br />by the Board of Commissioners for the remainder'of the term of office. <br />original members who receive an appointment for less than three years <br />shall be eligible for re-appointment for two consecutive terms of three <br />years duration, otherwise, no member shall be eligible to serve more than <br />two consecutive terms. A former member who has been off the commiss- <br />ion for a period of two years shall be eligible for appointment to any <br />vacancy. The members of the commission shall serve without compensat- <br />ion. <br />Section 3. The Recreation Commission shall appoint from its <br />membership a Chairman and such other officers as it may deem necessary <br />for, the orderly procedure of its business and may adopt by-laws, rules <br />and regulations governing its procedure not inconsistent with the provisions <br />of the State laws. The Recreation Commission shall, from time to time,, <br />snake rules and regulations governing the operation and conduct of the <br />recreation facilities operated by the Recreation Commission. The Rec- <br />reation Commission shall hold regular meetings at such times and places <br />as it may designate. <br />Section 4. The Recreation Commission shall provide, maintain, <br />operate and supervise the public parks, and playground, athletic fields, <br />and recreation centers and other recreation facilities owned or controlled <br />by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee or leased or <br />loaned to the Recreation Commission by the owners thereof. The Recrea- <br />tion Commission shall have complete supervision of the facilities and <br />activities provided and conducted on or in connection with the parks, <br />playgrounds, athletic fields and recreation centers provided, and shall <br />have the power to conduct any form of recreation or cultural activity. <br />Section 5. The Recreation Commission may accept any grant, <br />gift, bequest or donation of any personal property offered or made for <br />recreation purposes and, with the approval of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee may accept any grant, gift, or devise of real estate. <br />Any gift, bequest of money or other personal property, grant or devise of <br />real estate shall be held, used and finally disposed of in accordance with <br />the terms or conditions under which such grant, gift or devise is made and <br />accepted. The Recreation Commission shall have no authority to enter into <br />any contract or incur any obligation binding the Board of County Commiss- <br />ioners for the County of Lee other than current obligation(s) or contracts <br />to be fully executed within the current fiscal year and all within the budget <br />appropriations made by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee. <br />Section 6. The Recreation Commission shall have power to appoint <br />and designate a director of recreation who possesses the necessary found- <br />ation training and who demonstrates by actual work his ability to organize <br />and direct a community recreation system. Such other trained persons <br />as may be necessary in the maintenance of and operation of the recreation <br />facilities and system may be employed. <br />Page 2 <br />
