MINUTES OF SPECIAL_ MEETING <br />of <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />MARCH 13, 1972 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room in the County Office Building <br />at 9:00 a. m. on Monday, the 13th day of March, 1972, the same being the <br />time, place, and date specified in the call issued by the Chairman. <br />Those present were: Commissioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker., and Chairman, Franklin D. Wicker. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The Board received informal bids on airconditioning the offices <br />being prepared for the Solicitor and Magistrates. The bids were as follows: <br />Wicker Oil Company $ 1,300.00 <br />Coggin Heating & Air- <br />conditioning 1,389.00 <br />King Roofing & Manufacturing <br />Company................ 1,095.00 <br />After discussion and review, Commissioner Perry White moved <br />to accept the low bid of Icing Roofing & Manufacturing Company and award <br />the job to them at $1, 095.00. Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted upon a roll call <br />vote as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker, F. Wicker <br />NA Y: None <br />Commissioner'W. H. Cooper reported on his discussions with Mr. <br />,P. K. Buchanan concerning the improvements being made in the area which is <br />under consideration for a park. <br />There was a,general discussion about landfill operation. <br />There was a general discussion about ambulance operations. <br />Upon motion made, duly seconded, it was unanimously resolved to <br />request the State Highway Commission to construct and install four lanes for <br />traffic on U. S. No. 1 By--pass around Sanford. <br />There was a discussion about the personnel in the Sheriff's Department. <br />There was a discussion about the advisability of hiring a County.
