Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was presented to the Board showing the activities of his department. The written report of Mrs. Mary Alice Crissman, Veteran Service Officer, was presented to the Board reflecting the activities of her office over the past three months. The minutes for the meetings held on March 6, 13, 20, and 31, were considered and approved for recordation, upon motion of. W. H. Cooper, seconded by J. Eugene Rogers, which wasunanimously adopted. Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Civil Defense Coordinator, appeared before the Board and presented the budget estimate for his department for the coming fiscal year. The Chairman announced that Sunday,,May 21st, 1972, would be observed as Senior Citizens Day. The Chairman designated Commissioner Perry White to head the program to solicit support for the State's clean water; campaign. 4 Mrs: Maria Mackey, Chairman of the Board of Social Services, and Mr. Mack Worley, Director,. appeared before the Board and presented the request for appropriations for the coming fiscal year. Mr. J. Chandler Eakes, Register of Deeds for Lee County, appeared before the Board and presented the budget request for his office. Mr. Douglas Wilkinson, Mr. J. Shelton Wicker, Mr_. Lewis Lawrence, Mr. Stacy O. Budd, Mr. Elbert Price, and Mr. Jeff Hockaday, appeared before the Board on behalf of the Central Carolina Technical Institute. Mr. Wilkinson presented the budget request and reviewed the items' in both current expense and capital outlay. Mr. Hugh Brewer, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, appeared before the Board and presented the Budget Request for his department. The monthly bills as tabulated by the County accountant were pre- sented to the Board and considered. Upon motion made, •duly seconded, it was unanimously resolved to authorize the payment of the bills and upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was resoled to appropriate the sum of $486. 57. from the Emergency and Contingency Fund for.the payment of maps for tax offices, Sheriff Departments, and Fire Departments, in the amount of $466.25 and the service charge for the transfer of telephone in the Farm Home Administration office to its new office in the amount of $20. 32. The new contract for the positions to be filled under the Equal Employment Act was presented and the Chairman was authorized to execute it for and on behalf of the County.
