+3i PASt <br />WHEREAS, Clean Water is essential to the health and <br />welfare of the citizens of Lee County, as well as all citizens of <br />North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 6, 1972, the voters will determine <br />whether or not the State of North Carolina may issue Clean Water <br />Bonds to provide 150 million dollars to assist counties, cities and <br />towns in constructing and improving water supply and water pollution <br />control systems; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners believes it to be in the <br />public interest to advocate support of the Clean Water Bond Issue; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Comm- <br />issioners of Lee County that the Clean Water Bond Issue is hereby <br />endorsed and the voters of Lee County are urged to vote "FOR" the <br />Clean Water Bonds on May 6, 1972. <br />Commissioner Cooper seconded the enotion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Commissioner Rogers moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, on May 6, 1972, the voters will determine whether <br />or not the State of North Carolina may issue Zoological Park Bonds to <br />provide funds for the establishment of a State Zoological Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners believes it to be in the <br />public interest to advocate support of the Zoological Park Bond Issue; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commiss- <br />iones of Lee County that the Zoological Park Bond Issue is hereby endor- <br />sed and the voters of Lee County are urged to vote "FOR" the Zoological <br />Park Bonds on May 6, 1972. <br />Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper presented the following resolution and <br />moved that it be adopted: <br />WHEREAS, the Local Government Commission of North Carolina <br />s F has informed the Board of Commissioners that it has sold in the manner <br />02 prescribed by law the $50, 000 Sanitary Landfill Bonds of the County of <br />o r 1 'Lee, dated December 1, 1971, authorized to be issued by a resolution <br />adopted by the Board of Commissioners on March 31, 1972, and that the <br />Q n Q°4p o° contract of sale contemplates the said bonds shall bear interest as here- <br />~o=ya°c <br />0> inafter provided; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED that said bonds shall bear interest at the rate of <br />/ <br />4. 50% per annum. <br />Gy <br />¢ a Commissioner J. Wicker <br />E ° rc NAYS:None <br />The Clerk submitted ambulance specifications for two different type veh- <br />icles. After discussion, the Board approved the specifications for the Pontiac type. <br />. Chairman Wicker designated the third Sunday in May (May 21st) to be <br />Senior Citizens Day and requested the County attorney to draft an appropriate procla- <br />mation. <br />The Chairman reported he had received notice of the award of certificate <br />to Mr. Billy Ray Cameron for his participation in Civil Defense Training Programs. <br />There baring no further business to come befor said session, it was <br />jan <br />adou~ned~sine ddie. ~ C4/ Chairm <br />ou'l Clerk <br />
