aas., MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, June 5, 1972 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, convened in the Commissioners' Room in the County Office Building, corner. of Steele Street and Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Mon- day, June 5, 1972, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker, and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened by prayer given by the Reverend William Haskins of the Faith Bible Tabernacle of Sanford, North Carolina. The written report of the Chairman of the Agricultural Extension Department was presented to the Board. The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was presented to the Board. County for a period of eight weeks this summer. ry Mr. Jackson, 'one of the'ciistodial employees at the Courthouse Annex, appeared before the Board and requested additional working hours. The matter was referred'to Mr. Hugh Brewer, Superintendent of Building and Grounds. The Chairman reported that a PACE student was available for employment with the Agricultural Extension Department, which the County would have to appropriate funds for such purposes. .After discussion, upon motion of Commissioner White,_ seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $190. 00 from the,unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Agricultural Extension Service Fund, for the purpose of employing a PACE student. Upon a roll call 'vote, Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, Wicker and Wicker, all voted for it and no one 'voted against it. Commissioner Gordon A.. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution and the approval and certification of the following rosters to the Commissioner of Insurance: WHEREAS, G. S. 118-23 requires certification to the North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance as to fire- men and fire departments in compliance with minimum con- ditions precedent to the eligibility of firemen and volunteer firemen for benefits under the North Carolina Firemen's Pension Fund Act, the undersigned certifies to the North Carolina Comm- issioner of Insurance that: (1) Lee County, North Carolina, is a political subdiv-
