aas., <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OF THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 5, 1972 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, convened in the Commissioners' Room in the County Office Building, <br />corner. of Steele Street and Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Mon- <br />day, June 5, 1972, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. Those present were Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker, and <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and <br />the following business was transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by the Reverend <br />William Haskins of the Faith Bible Tabernacle of Sanford, North Carolina. <br />The written report of the Chairman of the Agricultural Extension <br />Department was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was <br />presented to the Board. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was <br />presented to the Board. <br />The Chairman reported'that Miss Diane Gardner, a Home <br />Economics trainee will be assigned to Work in Lee. County for a period of eight <br />weeks this summer. <br />ry <br />Mr. Jackson, 'one of the'ciistodial employees at the Courthouse <br />Annex, appeared before the Board and requested additional working hours. The <br />matter was referred'to Mr. Hugh Brewer, Superintendent of Building and Grounds. <br />The Chairman reported that a PACE student was available for <br />employment with the Agricultural Extension Department, which the County would <br />have to appropriate funds for such purposes. .After discussion, upon motion of <br />Commissioner White,_ seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was <br />RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $190. 00 from the,unappropriated surplus <br />in the General Fund to the Agricultural Extension Service Fund, for the purpose of <br />employing a PACE student. <br />Upon a roll call 'vote, Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, Wicker <br />and Wicker, all voted for it and no one 'voted against it. <br />Commissioner Gordon A.. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution and the approval and certification of the following rosters to the <br />Commissioner of Insurance: <br />WHEREAS, G. S. 118-23 requires certification <br />to the North Carolina Commissioner of Insurance as to fire- <br />men and fire departments in compliance with minimum con- <br />ditions precedent to the eligibility of firemen and volunteer <br />firemen for benefits under the North Carolina Firemen's Pension <br />Fund Act, the undersigned certifies to the North Carolina Comm- <br />issioner of Insurance that: <br />(1) Lee County, North Carolina, is a political subdiv- <br />
