Comm- <br />issioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted <br />on a fell call vote wherein Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />In order to close the County Ac countant's.,books for the fiscal <br />year ending June 30, 1972, and balance-the appropriations with authorized expen- <br />ditures, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the following amounts to the funds <br />indicated: <br />County Commissioners $ <br />207.00 <br />Tax Collector <br />675. 00 <br />Sheriff (automobile operation $5, 000) <br />937. 00 <br />Elections <br />2,370. 00 <br />Auditor <br />276. 00 <br />Courthouse Operation <br />720.00 <br />Ambulance <br />2, 140. 00 <br />General Relief <br />7, 486. 00 <br />Electrical Inspector <br />80. 00 <br />Superior Court <br />385.00 <br />Compensation and surety bonds <br />448.00 <br />Jail <br />882. 00 <br />Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the foregoing. <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion andipon a vote, Messrs. Cooper, <br />Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted <br />against it. <br />Tabulation of the monthly bills was presented to the Board and <br />authorized for payment, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon Wicker, .seconded <br />by Commissioner Cooper, and unanimously adopted. <br />The Tax Collector reported that the City of Sanford had paid the <br />taxes upon property leased by it but in making said payment had taken a deduction <br />for $164. 08 for taxes due by Lee County upon property which it had purchased and <br />had assumed the balance of taxes. Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded <br />by Commissioner Gordon Wicker, it was Resolved to appropriate the sum of $104. 08 <br />from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund for the payment of taxes on <br />realty in the amount of $164. 08 and for payment of this sum to the Tax Collector <br />of Lee County and to reimburse him for the deduction made by the City of Sanford. <br />Upon a vote, Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker all voted <br />for it and no one voted against it. <br />A representative of a communication company appeared before <br />the Board and discussed working up a maintenance proposal covering all of the <br />maintenance of the communication equipment operated by the County. Such a <br />survey was authorized. <br />The Chairman presented to the Board for its consideration, the <br />Charter Resolution for the establishment of Triangle J Council of Governments. <br />The matter was discussed and then Commissioner White moved that the Charter <br />Resolution be adopted. Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion. The resolution <br />was adopted upon a roll call vote wherein Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, G. <br />Wicker and F. Wicker all voted for and no one voted against it. The Charter <br />Resolution in its entirety is attached to these minutes and by such reference <br />incorporated herein. <br />The Chairman read a letter from Mrs. Barbara C. Kuhn, request- <br />ing that additional funds be made available for the County and City Schools and also <br />speaking in favor of a merger. <br />
