Commissioner Cooper moved that the bid of Lee <br />Motor Company for the four law enforcement vehicles be accepted and that the <br />sum of $892. 00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General <br />Fund to the Sherriff's Department for such purpose. Commissioner Rogers second- <br />ed the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Rogers, White, Gordon <br />Wicker and Franklin D. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. Comm- <br />issioner Cooper moved that the low bid of Holt Tractor & Truck Company be accept- <br />ed for the pick-up truck and that the sum of $1, 216. 06 be appropriated from the <br />unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Sanitary Landfill Fund for this <br />purpose. Commissioner White seconded the motion. There was a discussion <br />about the availability of parts for International vehicles and the performance that <br />the County had experienced from the use of the International Rescue vehicle. <br />Upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper and White voted "Aye" and Messrs. Rogers, <br />Gordon Wicker and Franklin D. Wicker voted "Nay", and the motion was defeated <br />by a majority vote. Commissioner Rogers then moved that the bid of Lee Motor <br />Company for the pick-up truck be accepted. Commissioner Gordon Wicker seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote, Messrs. Rogers, Gordon Wicker and Franklin D. Wicke: <br />voted "Aye" and Messrs. Cooper and White voted "Nay" and the motion carried by <br />a majority vote. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Director of Civil Defense, appeared before <br />the Board, and advised them that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Sanford, <br />desired to hold a joint meeting with them concerning the Civil Defense Evaluation <br />Program. <br />The monthly bills as listed by the County Accountant were presented, <br />discussed and reviewed. Commissioner Cooper moved that the bills be approved <br />for payment. Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager presented maps of the Sanitary Landfill Site <br />which had been prepared by Pate & Mullins, for submission to the State Board <br />of Health. <br />The County Manager advised the Board that the roof over the old <br />portion of the jail leaked extensively during the recent storm. The County <br />Manager was authorized to prepare specifications for securing bids to repair <br />the roof at the jail. <br />
