PARKS AND RECREATION <br />ARTICLE]. IN GENERAL <br />Secs. 18-1-18-30. Reserved. <br />ARTICLE II. PARKS <br />DIVISION 1. GENERALLY <br />Sec. 18-31. Definitions. <br />The following words, terms and phrases, when <br />used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed <br />to them in this section, except where the context <br />clearly indicates a different meaning: <br />Adult means any individual 18 years of age or <br />older. <br />County parks means all the land surface, the air <br />space above and all subjacent materials situated in <br />the county acquired by or under the jurisdiction of the <br />department of parks and recreation, or which may <br />be acquired by this department or come under its <br />jurisdiction. Specifically, this includes all areas so far <br />designated as park areas, whether or not wholly or <br />partially developed. Wherever in this article the words <br />"park" or "parks" may be used, reference is made to <br />such county land areas as described in this defini- <br />tion. <br />Department means the county department of parks <br />and recreation. <br />Director or director of parks means the director of <br />the county department of parks and recreation. <br />Nuisance means conduct which without a direct <br />physical invasion of a person annoys or impairs the <br />quiet and comfortable enjoyment of others. <br />Park manager means any person immediately in <br />charge of any park area and of its activities and to <br />whom all park attendants of such area are responsi- <br />ble. The park manager is directly responsible to the <br />director of parks and recreation. <br />Parkroads means all surfaced areas, either paved <br />or unpaved, designated for vehicular traffic and pass- <br />ing through any legally defined park area or part <br />thereof. All other trafficways not designated for ve- <br />hicular traffic are classified as trails or paths. <br />§ 18-33 <br />Parking area means any designated part of any <br />park road, drive or special area contiguous thereto, <br />set apart for the standing or stationing of any vehi- <br />cles. <br />Vehicle means any wheeled conveyance (except <br />a baby carriage or invalid wheelchair) for the trans- <br />portation of persons or materials whether: <br />(1) Powered or drawn by motor as an automo- <br />bile, truck, motorcycle or scooter, <br />(2) Animal-drawn as a carriage, wagon or cart; <br />(3) Any self-propelled bicycle or tricycle; or <br />(4) Any trailer in tow of any size, kind or descrip- <br />tion. <br />Exception is made as to any recreational or park <br />conveyance, where especially authorized by the di- <br />rector. <br />(Ord. of 9-4-84, § 1) <br />Cross reference-Definitions generally, § 1-2. <br />Sec. 18-32. Penalty for violation of article. <br />Any person who shall violate any of the regula- <br />tions, restrictions, limitations and provisions con- <br />tained in this article shall be punishable according to <br />section 1-7, and/or be expelled from the park. <br />(Ord. of 9-4-84, § 9.01) <br />Sec. 18-33. Traffic. <br />(a) Applicable state law enforced. All applicable <br />provisions of laws and rules regulating the equip- <br />ment and operation of motor vehicles on state high- <br />ways apply to and will be strictly enforced in the <br />parks, together with such rules provided in this arti- <br />cle. <br />(b) Directions of controlling officers and signs. All <br />traffic officers, law enforcement officers and desig- <br />nated park employees are authorized and instructed <br />to directtraffic whenever and wherever needed in the <br />parks and on the highways, streets or roads imme- <br />diately adjacent thereto in accordance with the pro- <br />visions of this article and such supplementary rules <br />as may be issued by the department or state agency. <br />No person shall fail to comply with any lawful order, <br />signal or direction of such officer or employee.
