• LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />IN SUPPORT OF THE REQUEST OF <br />THE ENDOR IRON FURNACE <br />TO BE DESIGNATED AS A STATE PARK <br />G;?" <br />WHEREAS, the Endor Iron Furnace, located in Lee County, North Carolina, is a <br />historical and cultural resource of the State and is one of the last remaining Civil War <br />structures which produced pig iron for the Confederacy; and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Lee and the Endor Iron Furnace Committee of the Railroad <br />House Historical Society have worked to preserve the structure and make possible access to <br />this historical site for future generations; and <br />WHEREAS, education to the Civil War structure can be met by public access to view <br />and learn about the history of the State if historic relics are accessible by the public and <br />preserved for eternity. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />supports the request of the Endor Iron Furnace to be designated as a North Carolina State <br />Park. <br />Adopted this 4`h day of January 2010. <br />ATTEST: <br />Richard B.
