Gl8 <br />L <br />Environmental Impact RC&D Projects Benefitting Lee County <br />Project 158 (FY04)-Pine forest/Poultry Waste Research. This project proved that <br />poultry waste can be safely and successfully be applied to pine forests. This project <br />also provided a new Best Management Practice to landowners. <br />Project 261 (FY04)-San-Lee Park Darn Repair . This is a project to repair the <br />dam apron, parapet wall, spillway and dredge part of the lake. This project has <br />been placed on a national RC&D economic stimulus list at a cost of <br />$2,010,000.00. <br />Project 262 (FY04)--Barnhardt Scout Camp Endowment. This project provided for <br />construction of a waste water treatment facility by means of securing funds by <br />means of a 284-acre conservation easement. El holds the conservation easement <br />and is monitoring the easement properties at least four times/year. Boy Scouts from <br />all over the region benefit from the camp. <br />Project 276 (FY07) -Buchanan Park Stream Stabilization . This is a project to <br />conduct stream bank restoration on a 700-ft section of Kendale Creek located in <br />Buchanan Park. This project has been placed on a national RC&D economic <br />stimulus list at a cost of $340,000.00. <br />Project 297 (FY09)-Lee County Voluntary AQfiCUltu al District. This project <br />provided assistance to the Lee County Soil and Water Conservation District and <br />Lee County Cooperative Extension for grant funds to implement a Voluntary <br />Agricultural District Program in the amount of $8,212.00. <br />Project 298 (FY09)-- Prescribed Fire Training Center- This is an ongoing regional <br />project to establish a center at Montgomery Community college to train state and <br />federal agency personnel as well as private consultants and landowners in the <br />proper techniques to conduct prescribed burning. Among other reasons to burn is <br />the need reduce forest litter. Funds have been applied for. <br />Project 307 (FY10)-Enerp-v Lfficicnt Poultrv House Heated Floor Svstem. This <br />ongoing project will provided funds to install a radiant heated floor system in a <br />poultry house to demonstrate an energy saving of up to 70%. Partners include N.C <br />Cooperative Extension and Lee County Soil and Water. Funds have been applied <br />for. <br />11 <br />
