no~ 23 <br />,305 <br />EE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />FEBRUARY 15, 2010 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North <br />Carolina, convened at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present were Amy M. Dalrymple, <br />Richard B. Hayes, James C. Kelly, Larry "Doc" Oldham, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and <br />Linda A. Shook. <br />Chairman Hayes called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted <br />Commissioner Doc Oldham delivered the invocation. <br />The pledge of allegiance was recited. <br />At this time the Board conducted joint public hearings with members of the Lee County Planning <br />Board. Planner Althea Thompson outlined the first rezoning petition submitted by Wake Stone <br />Corporation to rezone a total of 35.78 t acres of land located north of Deep River Road. Specifically, <br />the request is to rezone approximately 21.78 acres of land from Residential Agricultural (RA) district <br />and approximately 14 acres of land from Heavy Industrial Conditional Use (HI-CU) district to Heavy <br />Industrial Conditional Use (HI-CU) district for mining and quarry operations. <br />Chairman Hayes opened the public hearing. <br />The following spoke in favor of the rezoning petition for Wake Stone: <br />1. Tom Oxholm, Vice President of Wake Stone, Knightdale Plant; and <br />2. Dennis Pake, 7157 Deep River Road <br />No one present spoke in opposition to the Wake Stone rezoning request. <br />Chairman Hayes closed the public hearing. <br />Ms. Thompson outlined the second public hearing request submitted by Solid Rock Community <br />Church to rezone 3.94 acres of land located at 989 White Hill Road from Residential Agricultural (RA) <br />district to Office & Institutional (0&1) district. <br />Chairman Hayes opened the public hearing. <br />
