BK:00027 PG -.0514 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 8, 2015 <br />The Budget Work Session of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 6 p.m. in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room, First Floor, Lee <br />County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners <br />present when the work session was called to order was Amy M. Dalrymple, Dr. Ricky D. Frazier, Robert <br />T. Reives, Timothy S. Sloan, and Kirk D. Smith. Commissioner Andre Knecht arrived at 6:25 p.m., and <br />Commissioner Larry "Doc" Oldham was absent due to being out of town on vacation. Staff in <br />attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager/Finance Director Lisa <br />Minter, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />Chair Dalrymple called the work session to order. <br />Commissioner Frazier delivered the invocation. <br />The pledge of allegiance was recited. <br />At this time the Board heard presentations from the following non-profit organizations that had <br />requested funding in the upcoming budget: <br />HAVEN in Lee County, requested $12,000, County Manager recommended $10,000. <br />Susan King, Executive Director of HAVEN stated their mission is to help hurting people heal from <br />abuse to end domestic violence and sexual assault through community education, intervention, and <br />prevention. Ms. King stated HAVEN will use any funds received from the County as matching funds for <br />State and Federal grants. <br />_Lee County Industries (LCI) requested $7,500, County Manager recommended $5,000. <br />Mike Gilmore, Director of LCI stated his organization provides people with disabilities the services <br />needed to be independent and productive. Any funding received from the County will supplement their <br />Vocational Rehabilitation program. <br />Boys & Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County, requested $32,000, County Manager <br />recommended $10,000. Dana Petty, Interim Director stated their mission is to inspire and enable all <br />young people to realize their full potential as responsible, caring and productive citizens. Any funding <br />received from the County will be used for transportation of Lee County students to the Boys & Girls <br />Club facilities for a safe, positive afterschool environment. Funds will also help continue the impact of <br />life enhancing programs and character development experiences. <br />
