C. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: June 1, 2015 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Acceptance of LSTA EZ Literacy and Lifelong Learning Grant <br />Award <br />DEPARTMENT: Lee County Library <br />CONTACT PERSON: Susan Benning <br />REQUEST: The Board is asked to accept Library Services and Technology <br />Act (LSTA) grant award to Lee County Library in the amount of $23,342.45 for new FY 2015-2016 <br />that requires a 10% local fund match of $2,593.61. As you can see from the email letter attached, <br />Lee County Library was awarded the LSTA grant for 20 laptops, 20 wired mice, 10 plastic tables,1 <br />Smart Board, one charging lockable wood cabinet, 20 licenses for MS Office and 20 Licenses for <br />Lo -Jack. This grant total was for $25,936.06 that has a 10% local match so the Library will receive <br />$23,342.45 and the local match will be $2,593.61. For a minimal investment, the Library would <br />have needed new technology equipment to conduct introductory computer classes and help with <br />workforce development. This grant application was previously approved by the Lee County <br />Commissioners on February 16, 2015. This grant award is made as reimbursement from the State <br />Library once we have purchased the items. For audit purposes, this is federal grant money from <br />Institute of Museum and Library Services and is administered by The State Library of NC. <br />SUMMARY: <br />See attached <br />BUDGET IMPACT: The sales tax of $1,815.52 on the items purchased with <br />federal grant funds could not be included in the grant application. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Award email letter <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve acceptance of LSTA EZ Grant as referenced above <br />
