012 <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted by a 5 to 1 vote. <br />Commissioner Knecht stated he would like for the Board to consider other open mines <br />in the area and get them closed. He said things were moving quickly and that makes him <br />uncomfortable. He further stated he had not heard from the City of Sanford, and that the City <br />had not talked with Duke Energy. He did say he had heard that Duke was potentially offering <br />the city $500,000 for the OT Sloan sports complex and help with streetscape improvements. <br />He would love to have had a public hearing on the issue so that there could have been more <br />citizen discussion. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Frazier moved to <br />adjourn the meeting.
