025
STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
PAT MCCRORY DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS
GovERNoR
September 8, 2014
LEE COUNTY
Mrs, Joyce Buzinski
460 Buckroe Drive
Sanford, NC 27330
Subject Doe Run Subdivision (Doe Run Ext. and Buckroe Drive)
Dear Mrs. Buzinski:
ANTHONY J. TATA
SECRETARY
On 9/2/14 a site review was made by Kevin Reddinger at the Doe Run Subdivision. As per our policy on
adding roads to the state system, the following items need to be addressed prior to submitting the road to
the Board of Transportation for addition:
• Near house # 453(area marked with white paint and dated Sept/2 ) there needs to be full width and full
depth pavement repairs made, as discussed on sight, base under pavement may be reconditioned
and compacted to NCDOT standards, said standards must be proven as being met by the contractor
performing NCDOT approved density tests and documentation of those tests provided to us.
• Near house # 449 through #445 (area marked with white paint and dated Sept/2) there needs to be
full width and full depth pavement repairs made, as discussed on sight base under pavement may be
reconditioned and compacted to NCDOT standards, said standards must be proven as being met by
the contractor performing NCDOT approved density tests and documentation of those tests provided
to us.
• There is an area of alligator cracking that has been marked with white dashed line (enlarged from last
inspection) in the west side lane near #445, this area requires a full depth patch, which is the removal
of asphalt and faulty sub grade, replaced with new compacted base course (8" of ABC stone) and
surface course (2 "of SF9.5A).
• There are a couple other small areas of alligator cracking near the beginning of Buckroe Dr. near the
intersection with Deep River Rd., one beside a water valve and the other in front of the first house on
Buckroe Dr. #21 (enlarged since last inspection). These will need the same type repair as stated
above. There are also many other area's of cracking marked in white paint that were added and
discussed on Oct 8, these area's will require investigation by the contractor, with appropriate repairs
being performed weather they are full depth patches as described above or handled by means of
crack sealing will be determined as a case by case assessment of the given area. (with alligator
cracking being a deciding factor to patch every time)
• There are various long cracks extending down the centerline of Buckroe Dr. that would need to be
sealed with an approved asphalt crack sealant.
• As discussed on sight in the previous inspection, the portion of Doe Run Rd. that is not on the state
system will require a complete overlay of an inch of SF9.5A asphalt in the area defined by a white
painted line and arrow in the centerline leading out to the existing pavement joint at the NCDOT "end
of maintenance" sign.
• There is an area defined by white dashes and arrows near #535 that has extensive cracking. This
area will also require a complete overlay of an inch of SF9.5A asphalt.
• There is an area of alligator cracking that has been marked with white dashed line near #502, #518,
#452 and #591, these area's require full depth patch's, which is the removal of asphalt and faulty sub
grade, replaced with new compacted base course (8" of ABC stone) and surface course (2 "of
SF9.5A).
• There is are a couple area's of alligator cracking that have been marked with white dashed lines near
the edge of pavement on either side of the radius's at the intersection of Buckroe Dr. and Doe Run
P.
