Hoover (copy attached) Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Dalrymple, Hayes, Kelly, Oldham, Paschal, and Shook Nay: None Absent: Reives The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. Pursuant to N.C. General Statute § 153A-52.1, Chairman Hayes opened the floor for public comments. The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: 1. Mr. Russell Noel, 1413 Cherokee Trail, Sanford 2. Mr. Keith Clark, 212 Acorn Drive, Sanford The Board considered a recommendation from the Lee County Fire Advisory Board in reference to the West Sanford Fire Department. Mr. Donald Andrews, Chairman of the Lee County Fire Advisory Board told Commissioners that during the FY 2009-10 budget process, the Fire Advisory Board was instructed to work with the West Sanford Fire Department on a long-range plan to merge with another department by January 1, 2010. Mr. Andrews stated that the West Sanford Fire Department Board of Directors' has voted to be acquired by the Northview Fire Department. The Northview Fire Department Board of Directors' has voted to move forward with acquiring the West Sanford Fire Department and to begin serving the West Sanford Fire District effective July 1, 2010. Mr. Andrews asked for approval and support of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the above-referenced merger and asked that the County Attorney and Fire Marshal's Office assist in the process to expedite the transition. After discussion, Commissioner Oldham moved to accept the recommendation of the Lee County Fire Advisory Board to begin the merger process of the West Sanford and Northview Fire Departments effective July 1, 2010 and for the County Attorney's office and Fire Marshal's office to assist with the transition. Health Director Howard Surface presented the 2009 State of the County Health Report. After the presentation and questions, Commissioner Oldham moved to accept the report as presented.
