BK - 00027 PG <br />• Request for the Library to apply for LSTA EZ Grant, <br />• Acceptance of grant funding for Environmental Health in the amount of $7,847 to <br />be used for food safety training and equipment upgrades, and <br />• Request from the Health Department to apply for $2,700 Public Health Quality <br />Assurance Grant. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Frazier, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Dalrymple and Knecht <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Pursuant to N.C. General Statute §153A -52.1, the Chair opened the floor for Public Comments. <br />The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: <br />Ms. Debbie Hall, 957 Cumnock Road, Sanford (asked the Board to hold a town hall <br />type meeting to hear presentation from the Strategic Services Department ) <br />County Manager John Crumpton gave the Board an update on the Buggy Factory project. <br />Contractor Progressive Contracting, Inc. received building permits the week of February 2 nd and <br />financing is in place. Construction on the building has started with the first order of business being <br />flooring of the building. The coloring scheme, along with carpet, light switches, etc. have been <br />approved and IT has addressed security issues. A sub - contractor has been lined up and the projected <br />completion of the project is anticipated for December 1St. The building must be completed and <br />occupied by December 31St or Progressive Contracting will face tax credit penalties. Another update <br />will be given to Commissioners in March on the project. <br />The Board considered acceptance of a donation for the proposed off -leash dog park at O.T. <br />Sloan Park. Parks and Recreation Director John Payne asked the Board to accept a $30,000 donation <br />from The Friends of the Parks Foundation for construction of the above referenced project. The project <br />is a result of a public survey conducted by staff that identified an off -leash area for dogs as a needed <br />addition to the parks system. This item was addressed and approved by the Board of Commissioners <br />during their July 15, 2013 meeting but with no general fund appropriations. Mr. Payne stated that <br />through fundraising activities and generous donors, the estimated needs for construction of the area <br />has been realized. After discussion, Commissioner Oldham moved to accept the $30,000 donation <br />from The Friends of the Parks Foundation for the off -leash dog park at O.T. Sloan Park as presented. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Dalrymple <br />The Vice -Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Knecht joined the meeting at 4:14 p.m., during discussion of the above matter in <br />reference to a donation for the dog park. <br />
