A. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: March 2, 2015 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT Consider Reorganization of Environmental Review and Advisory Committee <br />(ERAC) with a Joint Environmental Affairs Board (EAB) <br />DEPARTMENT Governing Body <br />CONTACT PERSON Commissioner Amy Dalrymple, Chair <br />REQUEST Discuss dissolving the current ERAC board and create a joint Environmental <br />Affairs Board with representatives from Lee County, the City of Sanford and <br />Town of Broadway. <br />SUMMARY The original Environmental Affairs Board was created on July 18, 1988 and <br />was comprised of representatives from both Lee County and the City of <br />Sanford. It was dissolved by action of the Board of Commissioners on <br />January 7, 2013, effective as of March 1, 2013, and a new ERAC was <br />created. In order to avoid duplication of efforts, the Board is asked to <br />consider dissolving the ERAC board and creating a new, joint Environmental <br />Affairs Board with representatives from Lee County, the City of Sanford, and <br />the Town of Broadway. All current ERAC appointees shall be automatically <br />appointed to serve on the joint Environmental Affairs Board until their original <br />ERAC terms expire. <br />BUDGET IMPACT N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Resolution and (2) Environmental Affairs By -Laws <br />PUBLIC HEARING No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION The Board dissolved the original EAB and created the ERAC board, both of <br />which were effective March 1, 2013. <br />RECOMMENDATION Effective May 1, 2015, dissolve the ERAC as a standing Lee County Board <br />and create a joint Environmental Affairs Board with representatives from Lee <br />County, the City of Sanford and the Town of Broadway. <br />
