41 LEE COUNTY Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow ITEMS APPROVED AND ACTION TAKEN BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JULY 15, 2013 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Gaynell Lee, Clerk Lee County Board of Commissioners 919 - 7184605, Ext. 5507 gleeO- Ieecountvnc.gov The Lee County Board of Commissioners, meeting in a regular meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2013, took action on the following items: Recognized twelve Lee County students that are participating in a 2 -week Lee County "Young Commissioner" Youth Leadership Program. Approved a Resolution Honoring former Deputy Julian (Junior) Powers who was killed in the line of duty in 1959 and asked the Department of Transportation (DOT) to place a marker at the bridge into the entrance of Carolina Trace in his memory. The Resolution was read and presented to family members in attendance. The following items were approved on the CONSENT AGENDA A. Minutes from the June 3, and June 17, 2013 closed session meetings, B. Minutes from the June 17, 2013 regular meeting, C. Minutes from the June 24, 2013 recessed meeting, D. Minutes from the June 25, 2013 Deep River Town Hall Community meeting, E. Minutes from the June 26, 2013 McSwain Center Town Hall Community meeting, F. Minutes from the June 27,2013 Broadway Town Hall Community meeting, G. Minutes from the July 2, 2013 special called meeting, H. Tax Releases and Refunds for June 2013, and I. Proclamation Recognizing July as Parks and Recreation Month. PUBLIC COMMENTS: No one signed up to speak during the Public Comments section of the meeting. OLD BUSINESS: A. Approved revised Fees & Charges for Parks & Recreation, <� - pproved proposal for a Dog Park at O. T. Sloan Park (with no Lee County funding at this time), '�L"" Approved revised Economic Development Guidelines, and D. Approved a revised contract between the Health Department and Nutrition That Works, LLC for a WIC Director position.
