Aye: Smith <br />Nay: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, and Sloan <br />The Chair ruled the motion failed with a 6 to 1 vote. <br />Commissioner Frazier moved to approve the Resolution of the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />Opposing Coal Ash Disposal in Lee County, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, and Sloan <br />Nay: Smith <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted by a 6 to 1 vote. <br />The Board considered acceptance of additional Division of Public Health Family Planning Funds <br />for the Health Department. Health Director Terrell Jones stated his office had been notified they would <br />be receiving $6,867.00 in additional Family Planning Program funding to support the Out-of- Wedlock- <br />Pregnancy Prevention Program in Lee County. If approved, funds will be funneled to the Coalition for <br />Families of Lee County for their Sister Love Program that supports African - American women at risk for <br />poor birth outcomes in Lee County. Funding also supports an outreach worker for the Barbers and <br />Beauticians program. After discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to approve the acceptance of <br />$6,867.00 in additional Family Planning Funds for the Health Department. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Resolution honoring local law enforcement and public employees that <br />had been added to the Agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Chair Dalrymple read a "draft" <br />Resolution in honor of law enforcement and public employees. Commissioner Reives stated the <br />Highway Patrol, EMS and fire fighters needed to be included as part of the Resolution as well as <br />recognizing National Law Enforcement Day which will be celebrated on January 9th. After discussion, <br />Commissioner Reives instructed staff to draft a Resolution Honoring Public Employees and Local Law <br />Enforcement for the Chair to sign. A copy of said Resolution is attached to these Minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed 2015 Legislative Priorities as requested by the North Carolina Association <br />of County Commissioners ( NCACC). Federal issues are due back to the NCACC by January 16th with <br />the top issues going to the North Carolina Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC, in February. <br />The Board was asked to provide issues to the County Manager or Chair by January 16th. No action <br />was taken. <br />The Board considered the FY 2015 -16 Johnston - Lee - Harnett Community Action Services Block <br />Grant that was removed from the Consent Agenda at the beginning of the meeting.
