Eugene Rogers: <br />The, Entire Board: <br />County Office Building <br />Ambulance Service <br />Courthouse and Jail <br />Courthouse and Jail <br />Landfill <br />Landfill, <br />'Courthouse Annex <br />Health Building <br />During this discussion andassignment, it was brought up for <br />discussion that. such assignments may not be proper or necessary with a <br />County Manager to oversee such activities and report-to the Board. In view <br />of this discussion, the Board then proceeded to consider,the employment of <br />a County Manager. Commissioner Hancock rea~a~~~~reared statement and, <br />made a motion that Lee County abolish the Countwva M of Government and <br />that the present County Manager be paid annual leave or vacation that he had <br />accumulated to date. Mr. Hancock requested that his prepared statement be made <br />a part of the minutes of this meeting and the statement is attached hereto as <br />an exhibit. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />discussion of the motion, Commissioners Rogers and, Cooper both spoke in . <br />favor of retaining the County Manager form of Government and the present <br />County Manager. , A roll call vote was had with the following results: <br />Aye: Hancock, F.. Wicker and G. Wicker <br />Nay: Cooper and Rogers <br />A majority having'voted in the affirmative, the motion carried. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock, it was unanimously Resolved to appoint Nathan <br />Crissman as Tax Collector. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers, seconded by <br />William H. Cooper, it was unanimously resolved to employ Mrs. Beatrice <br />Fields as County Accountant. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers, it was unanimously resolved to appoint <br />Mr. James L. Harrington, Jr., Special County AttorneIyfor Social Service matters. <br />F • i <br />Mr. James Johnson and Mr. W. T. Proctor of the Farmers <br />Home Administration, appeared before-the. Board and presented Commissioner. <br />Gordon A. Wicker with a check representing the Farmers Home Administration's <br />grant for the establishment of a solid waste disposal program. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the regular meetings <br />of the Board be set for the first and thrird Mondays of each month beginning at <br />9:30 o'clock a. in. at the County Office Building. During the discussion, it was <br />suggested that the second meeting of the month be held in the evening, and the <br />motion was amended to provide that the regular meetings of the Board be held <br />on the first and third Mondays of each month at'the County Office Building at <br />the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, with the first <br />meeting to begin at 9:30 o'clock a. m. and the second meeting to begin at 7:00 <br />O'clock p. m. The motion and amendment were seconded by Commissioner Hal <br />L. Hancock and upon a vote the resolution was unanaimousy adopted. The Clerk <br />
