i <br />a <br />1l 1 <br />Atli 8 rA7 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, December 18, 1972 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the <br />Second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele <br />and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 7:00 o'clock P. M., <br />on Monday, December 18, 1972. <br />Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were all present. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Mr. W. E. Parfitt appeared before the Board and submitted <br />letters from Lee Brick and Tile Company and Sanford Brick and Tile <br />Company indicating their interest in his proposal to use their <br />clay pits as sanitary landfill sites. After discussion with the <br />Board, members of the Board thanked him for his appearance and <br />keeping them advised about the project. No formal action was <br />taken. <br />The county bills as listed by the County Accountant, were <br />distributed and discussed by the members of the Board. Upon motion <br />by E'..am- I: Cooper seconded by Franklin D. Wicker, the bills <br />were approved for payment by the unanimous vote of the Board. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker requested the county <br />attorney to contact Mr. Lowry Betts, attorney for the Sanford <br />City Board of Education, and find out what, if anything, had been <br />done about acquiring a small triangular tract of land which belonged <br />to the H. C. Cameron Lumber Company near the Warren Williams <br />School site. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on December 4, 1972, <br />were approved.and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner <br />Wiliam H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Wicker and unanimously <br />adopted.' <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker designated the following <br />assignments of Commissioners: <br />Commissioner <br />Department or Activity <br />W. H. Cooper Ambulance Service, Road, Library <br />Hal L. Hancock Fire Department, Courthouse and Jail, <br />Landfill <br />J. Eugene Rogers Recreation Department, Armory, Court- <br />house Annex <br />Franklin D. Wicker County Office Building, Landfill, <br />Region J Council of Governments, <br />Triangle Commission on Law and Order <br />Gordon A. Wicker Courthouse and Jail, Mental and <br />Public Health <br />
