Commissioner Hal Hancock moved that <br />the sum of $1, 680. 00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in <br />the General Fund to the Mental Health Department for its use in providing <br />assistance for its patients in the Sheltered Workshop Program. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and it was unanimously adopted upon <br />a roll call vote. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman had the Clerk read to the Board a letter from Mr. <br />Ken Hoover, the Secretary of Exodus House, Inc. Exodus House, Inc. , is a <br />non-profit corporation which is seeking to establish a rehabilitation facility for <br />alcoholics in this area. The Corporation requested that a representative of the <br />Board of Commissioners be named to participate in the project with them. <br />After discussion, Commissioner William H. Cooper was designated to be the <br />Board's representative in this project. <br />The Board then proceeded to open material received with respect <br />to elevating graders of the type which has been recommended for use at the <br />Sanitary Land Fill Site. The various models were discussed, prices were <br />discussed, and the representatives of the Company who were present were <br />heard. The matter was taken under advisement and no formal action for purchase <br />was taken at this time. <br />The Chairman presented a letter from the District Engineer <br />requesting that Duke Drive in Hanover Circle Subdivision be added to the State <br />Maintained Secondary Road System. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved <br />the adoption of the following resolution with respect to said road: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been <br />filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee <br />requesting that the above described road, the location of <br />which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be <br />added to the Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />is of the opinion that the above described road should be added <br />to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum <br />standards and criteria established by the State Highway Comm- <br />ission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the <br />Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that <br />the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review <br />the above described road, and to take over the road for main- <br />tenance if it meets established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman presented a letter from the District Engineer of the <br />State Highway Commission requesting that the access road from U. S. Highway <br />No. 1 to the Allis-Chalmers plant, be added to the State Maintained Secondary <br />Road System. According to the letter from the District Engineer, the costs of <br />this construction will be charged to the Access and Public Service Road Fund. <br />Commissioner William H.
