N
H
BOOK 8 PAGE197
The payment to Lacy Hilliard, Alton Williams, James Holder,
Jessie Quick and Herman Gilmore, for ten hours of overtime work at the
Sanitary Landfill were approved upon motion of Commissioner Hancock,
seconded by Commissioner Cooper, and unanimously adopted upon a vote.
The Chairman read to the Board a letter received from Mr,
Kenneth Brinson, Superintendent of the Sanford City Board of Education, with
respect to the request for purchase of additional land at the Warren Williams
School site. The letter was referred to the County Attorney.
The monthly bills were again presented to the Board with several
additions which had come in that morning. The bills were reviewed and dis-
cussed and approved for payment, upon motion of Commissioner Cooper,
seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, which motion was unanimously
adopted.
The Chairman called to the Board's attention the necessity for
assistance in the Tax Supervisor's office and there was a general discussion
about the need for hiring an assistant to the Tax Supervisor in order that the
man may be trained by Mr. Clark and be familiar with the records and pro-
cedures of the office.
There was a discussion about the relative merits of the electronic
calculating machine and the necessity for having such machine for use in the
current tax billing period. This matter is to be resolved at the next meeting
of the Board.
The Board then re-considered the bids received for a self-
propelling, self-loading scraper, the experience they had had with the various
models and the type of equipment presently owned and operated by the County.
After considerable discussion, Commissioner Hancock moved that the bid of
North Carolina Equipment Company in the amount of $40, 154. 55, for an Inter-
national Model 412 Scraper be accepted and that the sum of $40, 154. 55 be
appropriated from the funds received from the RevenueSharing be appropriated
for the purchase of this equipment. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded
the motion. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker, all
voted for it and no one voted against it.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, it
was adjourned .
NORT14 CAROLINA, LEE COUNTY
the~ daY
Presented for registration on
19~at/o;~c, M,
ofd Pa6e
recorded in 1300X_--_ KO
