~66K PAGE219 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, May 21, 1973 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room, on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. , on Monday, May 21st, 1973. Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Chairman Gordon A., Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened by prayer given by Mrs. Rachel Guthrie. The Chairman took note of the presence of the new Editor and a new Reporter for the Sanford Daily Herald, who were covering the meeting and they were introduced to the members of the Board. The minutes of the meeting held on May 7th, 1973, were approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner William H. Cooper reported that the subdivision at Tramway would be paved by the State Highway Commission if the property owners would agree to pay a front foot charge of $2. 00. Upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Rogers and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to authorize Commissioners Cooper and Franklin D. Wicker to inspect, approve and accept the metal building at the corner of McIntosh and Elm Streets, on behalf of the County and to authorize payment in keeping with the bid submitted . Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $1, 066.76 from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Landfill Fund account for purpose of paying the Thomas Oil Company bill for installation of a petroleum dispensing pump and said bill was approved for payment. Messrs. Cooper, 'Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for the resolution and no one voted against it. The Board directed that Department Heads of the County Government be notified that automobile mileage must be placed on all gas tickets and also the meter reading must also be placed upon the gas ticket. Mrs. Rachel Guthrie and Mrs. Mary Yarborough appeared before the County Commissioners and presented the plaque won by the County for its participation in the beautification program. The Board expressed its gratitude to Mrs. Guthrie and to Mrs. Yarborough for their services in this program, on behalf of the County.
