~66K PAGE219 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 21, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' <br />Room, on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of <br />Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. , on <br />Monday, May 21st, 1973. Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. <br />Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were <br />present. Chairman Gordon A., Wicker presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by Mrs. Rachel Guthrie. <br />The Chairman took note of the presence of the new Editor and a <br />new Reporter for the Sanford Daily Herald, who were covering the meeting and <br />they were introduced to the members of the Board. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 7th, 1973, were approved <br />and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported that the subdivision at <br />Tramway would be paved by the State Highway Commission if the property owners <br />would agree to pay a front foot charge of $2. 00. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner <br />Rogers and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to authorize Commissioners <br />Cooper and Franklin D. Wicker to inspect, approve and accept the metal building <br />at the corner of McIntosh and Elm Streets, on behalf of the County and to authorize <br />payment in keeping with the bid submitted . <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $1, 066.76 <br />from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Landfill Fund account <br />for purpose of paying the Thomas Oil Company bill for installation of a petroleum <br />dispensing pump and said bill was approved for payment. Messrs. Cooper, <br />'Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for the resolution and no <br />one voted against it. <br />The Board directed that Department Heads of the County Government <br />be notified that automobile mileage must be placed on all gas tickets and also the <br />meter reading must also be placed upon the gas ticket. <br />Mrs. Rachel Guthrie and Mrs. Mary Yarborough appeared before <br />the County Commissioners and presented the plaque won by the County for its <br />participation in the beautification program. The Board expressed its gratitude <br />to Mrs. Guthrie and to Mrs. Yarborough for their services in this program, on <br />behalf of the County. <br />
