BQpY O YAGE~~4 <br />The monthly bills as tabulated by the County Accountant <br />were distributed for consideration by members of the Board. <br />Mr. T. Burke Buchanan, Chairman and Mr. Mack Worley, <br />Director, appeared before the Board and presented the budget request on behalf <br />of the Department of Social Services. <br />Mr. Fred Beck and Mr. Ervin Thomas, appeared before the <br />Board on behalf of the State Highway Commission, and there was a discussion <br />about Secondary Roads leading past Mr. Ed Bullard's home near Tramway and <br />Mr. Beck was to investigate the possibility of what action could be taken to <br />reduce the dust problem caused by trucks hauling gravel. The question of <br />adding a section of U. S. Highway No. 1 which had been abandoned was referred <br />to Mr. Beck for his investigation. Mr. Beck advised the Board that representatives <br />of the State Highway Commission would work with the County to re-locate trash <br />containers so they did not encroach on the State Highway Commission's right-of <br />way. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, duly seconded and <br />unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to pay the monthly bills as listed by the <br />County accountant. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip and Miss Mary Estelle Doyle, appeared <br />before the Board. Mr. Haislip advised the Board that Miss Doyle had elected <br />to retire effective June 30, 1973. Miss Doyle presented her letter of resignation <br />which was accepted with reluctance and the Board expressed its thanks to her for <br />her thirteen years of service to the people of Lee County as the Extension Home <br />Economist Agent. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded <br />by Commissioner Hal L. Hancock, the bills for plumbing and wiring and concrete <br />at the County Maintenance Building, were approved for payment and the sum of <br />$1, 021. 04, was appropriated from the Revenue Sharing Fund for the payment of <br />these items. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker, <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded <br />by Commissioner William H. Cooper, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED <br />to rename the Civil Defense Agency as the Civil Preparedness Office. <br />Mrs. Beatrice Fields, a member of the Lee County Personnel <br />Committee, appeared before the Board and presented the recommendations of the <br />Personnel Committee. These recommendations are attached to the exhibit. After <br />consideration, Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved that the recommendations of <br />the Personnel Committee be adopted and put into effect. Commissioner Franklin <br />D.
