Eugene Rogers seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, and Chairman <br />Gordon A. Wicker <br />NAY: None <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and <br />participated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />The County Finance Officer reported that the Council <br />on Aging had requested that space in the County Office Building <br />be assigned to it. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was given <br />authority to assign space to this agency. <br />Commissioner Cooper reported that the van type vehicle <br />being used by the Maintenance Department could be utilized by <br />the Rescue Squad or Ambulance Service. The Board authorized <br />the use of the vehicle by the Ambulance Service when its use <br />was no longer required by the Maintenance Department. <br />Mr. J. R. Ingram, Chairman; Kenneth H. Brinson, <br />Superintendent; and J. R. Utley, Mary Alice Holmes, Dr. Cade <br />Covington, members of the Sanford City Board of Education were <br />present. Mr. Robert W. Dalrymple, Chairman; Dr. Ben Brooks, <br />Superintendent; and J. Glen Edwards, members of the Lee County <br />Board of Educatio were present. Mr. Robert W. Dalrymple <br />reported to the Board of Commissioners that both Boards of <br />Education had held public hearings on the proposed merger agree- <br />ment and no adverse comments had been made at either of said <br />hearings. Mr. Dalrymple presented Mr. Lowry Betts, Attorney <br />for the Sanford City Board of Education. Mr. Betts delivered to <br />the Board of Commissioners three executed copies of the merger <br />agreement. Mr. Betts advised the Board of Commissioners that <br />certificates attesting to the holding of the public hearings <br />had been added but otherwise the agreements were identical with <br />Page 2 <br />
