BOOK 8 PUE 260 <br />control of the contractor and that the Department of Transportation <br />of Highway Safety could take no action until the contract had <br />been completed and the right of way returned to the state. <br />Mr. George M. Stockbridge, Executive Director of the <br />Health Planning Council for Central North Carolina, Mr. Lou <br />Orban, Planning Director for the County, and Dr. John E. Dotterer <br />appeared before the Board and discussed participation by Lee <br />County in the Health Planning Council for Central North Carolina. <br />No formal action was taken at this time. <br />Dr. John E. Dotterer of the Lee County Library Board <br />appeared before the Board and reminded them that the Broadway <br />Branch would hold its formal opening on Sunday, August 12,. 1973; <br />at 3:00 o'clock P.M. and that all of the Commissioners were <br />invited to attend the ceremony. <br />The Chairman reported to the Board that he had received <br />a complaint from Bridges Electric Company concerning the fees <br />charged for electrical inspection. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that all of the <br />rural fire departments needed adapters to enable them to connect <br />their pipe to the type of fire hydrants used by the City of Sanford. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the bills as <br />tabulated by. the County Accountant be paid. Commissioner Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Hancock stated to the Board, that in his <br />opinion, the Landfill Operation needed to purchase a bulldozer. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that William Cotton <br />be appointed to the Lee County Recreation Commission to fill the <br />unexpired term of Mr. Gaines who has accepted employment with the <br />Commission. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote,.it was unanimously adopted; and the Chairman <br />declared Mr. Cotton duly elected to membership on the Lee County <br />Recreation Commission. <br />-6- <br />
