Mr. George M. Stockbridge, Executive Director of the Health Planning Council for Central North Carolina, Mr. Lou Orban, Planning Director for the County, and Dr. John E. Dotterer appeared before the Board and discussed participation by Lee County in the Health Planning Council for Central North Carolina. No formal action was taken at this time. Dr. John E. Dotterer of the Lee County Library Board appeared before the Board and reminded them that the Broadway Branch would hold its formal opening on Sunday, August 12,. 1973; at 3:00 o'clock P.M. and that all of the Commissioners were invited to attend the ceremony. The Chairman reported to the Board that he had received a complaint from Bridges Electric Company concerning the fees charged for electrical inspection. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that all of the rural fire departments needed adapters to enable them to connect their pipe to the type of fire hydrants used by the City of Sanford. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the bills as tabulated by. the County Accountant be paid. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Hancock stated to the Board, that in his opinion, the Landfill Operation needed to purchase a bulldozer. Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that William Cotton be appointed to the Lee County Recreation Commission to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Gaines who has accepted employment with the Commission. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote,.it was unanimously adopted; and the Chairman declared Mr. Cotton duly elected to membership on the Lee County Recreation Commission. -6-
