BOON 8 PAGE ?59 <br />Mr. Fred H. Beck, Sr., District Engineer with the <br />Department of Transportation and Highway Safety appeared before <br />the Board to discuss road matters. Road matters which were <br />considered were as follows: <br />(A) Mr. Beck was to investigate the maintenance <br />conditions of the Juniper Springs Church Road to see what action <br />could be taken. <br />(B) Mr. Beck reported that personnel were supposed to <br />be in Broadway on this date to install the blinker lights on <br />the approaches to the Broadway School. <br />(C) Beautification projects on shoulders of the road <br />are discouraged according to Mr. Beck .because in the past <br />organizations have not sustained or maintained the projects <br />that they started. <br />(D) The request for a signal light at the railroad <br />crossing in the Beaver Dam Community will be reported on at the <br />next meeting of the Board. <br />(E) Mr. Beck worked with Mr.. Van Groce about the Carr <br />Creek Subdivision roads to see if these roads. could be accepted <br />for maintenance by the Department of Transportation and Highway- <br />Safety. <br />(F) Mr. Robert McLeod complained about the nuisance <br />created by. dust coming from the Peach Orchard Road which comes <br />primarily from truck traffic to an asphalt plant. Commissioner <br />Hancock moved that the Board request the proper authorities to <br />conduct a survey to determine a safe speed for Secondary Road <br />No. 1199. Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />(G) Mr. Hubert Garner, Mr. C. S. Ragan, Mr. James F. <br />Bridges, and Mr. Refus Allen, all of Deep River Township appeared <br />before the Board and requested information as to when the bridge <br />over Secondary Road No. 1423 would be replaced. Mr. Beck reported <br />to these gentlemen that the right of way of the new road is in the <br />-5- <br />
