The Chairman <br />declared the motion carried by a majority. vote. <br />The Chairman then read to the Board the report received <br />from Boney & Newcombe, Inc., on the bids received for the <br />Sanitary Sewer Project to Redman Industries. A copy of the bid <br />tabulation sheet is annexed hereto and by this reference made a <br />part of the minutes. Boney & Newcombe recommended that the contract <br />be awarded to Jeter C. Johnson, the low bidder, at the price <br />of $16,4.11.25• Upon motion made, and duly seconded, it was <br />resolved to award the contract to the low bidder, Jeter C. Johnson, <br />in accordance with the recommendation of the engineers. <br />Representatives of the firm of Pate & Mullins appeared <br />before the Board and presented plans for the addition to the Lee <br />County Health Department. Plans.were reviewed and approved. The <br />contract for architectural services was submitted and approved; <br />and the Chairman and Clerk were authorized to execute same on <br />behalf of the County. The architects were instructed to proceed <br />to advertise for bids on this project. <br />.Mr. Bobby Bracken of the firm of Pate & Mullins, <br />Architects and Engineers, appeared before the Board and discussed <br />the work he was doing concerning the water and sewer line <br />extensions to the Jonesboro Middle School site. <br />The Board discussed various persons to serve on the <br />Lee County Planning Board and tentatively agreed to establish <br />the membership at seven (7) individuals. Commissioners were <br />assigned names of proposed members and requested to personally <br />contact them to see if they would serve on the County Planning <br />Board. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that the <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners had adopted <br />a resolution relating to tobacco marketing problems and that <br />-3- <br />
