a <br />BOOK pnrM <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />August 20, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County convened in the Commissioner's Room of the County <br />Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in <br />Sanford, North Carolina, at.7:00.o'clock P.M. on Monday, August <br />203 1973. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, <br />Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by Mr. Perry <br />White. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that the highway <br />authorities had gone with him to view the railroad crossings in <br />the Beaver Dam Community and had subsequently erected additional <br />warning signs on the shoulder of the roads and painted warning <br />signs on the paved portion of the road. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers asked Mr. Perry White to <br />consider heading the drive to support the state-wide school bond z <br />election. Mr. White stated he would take the matter under <br />advisement and confer with Mr. Rogers at a later date. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by <br />Franklin D. Wicker, it was unanimously resolved to approve the <br />draft of the minutes of the meeting held on August 6, 1973, and <br />to order the same recorded. <br />Commissioner Cooper reported that the low bid for a <br />heating and cooling unit at the Maintenance Building on Elm <br />Street was submitted by Center Heating & Air-Conditioning Company <br />
