TH6 Board proceeded to <br />of carpet on the fifth. floor of <br />The bids were as follows: <br />open.bids for the installation <br />the: Lee County Office Building. <br />1. Dossenbach's 'Carpet .Center-----$'.5,09.5.70 <br />2.. B & S Carpet------------------=$10,312.80 <br />3.' Bill's. 'Carpet Service 4:,.507..51 <br />The `Board then considered the samples of carpet to be supplied. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene.Rogers moved-that the. Board accept <br />the low bid of Bill's Carpet. Service and let,.the: contract <br />be 'awarded to it, and that. the 'sum of $4,.507.51 be appropriated <br />from the funds derived from revenue sharing to the General. <br />Fund for such purpose:' Commissioner, Hal L.. Hancock seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote,. it was 'unanimously adopted.. Messrs. <br />Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted for it <br />and no one voted against it.. <br />. The Board next proceeded to open bids for the land- <br />scaping work to be. done at the school garage site. The. <br />bids received were as follows: <br />1. Lee Landscaping ------.-$1,516..00 <br />2.D. C. Griffin----------$2;005.60 <br />After discussion about what work was required by the <br />specificati'ons,' Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that <br />all bids be' rejected.. Commissioner Hancock seconded the . <br />motion, and it was unanimously adopted upon a vote. The <br />Board then authorized Dr. Ben Brooks to see that the work <br />was done on an hourly basis since the Board was of the' opinion <br />it could purchase the supplies 'and materials as:'cheaply.as <br />the bidders and could supply, the labor at a cheaper rate.. <br />The Board. next proceeded to open. lids 'for the. <br />installation of sewer and water lines to 'the'Jonesborc <br />Middle School site. The bids received were as follows: <br />NAME DF.BIDDER WATER SEWER TOTAL <br />Blue Contracting Co. $32;.167.50, $19,,lll-50_ $51,27.9..00- <br />Johnson Construction Co. °$33;871,25, $19';757:50 $53;628•.75 <br />James.'A. Dobbins $35,135•'00. $21,220..00 $56,355.00. <br />Commissioner Rogers moved that the Board accept the low bid <br />of Blue.Contracting Co.. and that the contract be'.,awarded to <br />it and that the sum of $51,279.00, be appropriated from the <br />funds derived from revenue sharing to the General Fund for <br />such purpose. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the <br />motion and upon a.vote,'it was unanimously adopted. Messrs. <br />Hancock,' Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted for <br />the resolution and no one ':voted against' it. <br />Commissioner.J.' Eugene Rogers asked that the firm. <br />of Pate.& Mullins give consideration to.the.use' of a metal <br />building in planning for a school garage. <br />Tne.Chairinan announced that no representatives <br />would be present from the Department of Transportation and <br />Highway Safety this week. <br />Commissioner Franklin-D. Wicker: moved that .the sum <br />of $700.,00 be appropriated 'from the' unappropriated surplus in <br />the :General Fund to the, Triangle J Council of Governments, <br />Fund for the purpose'of financing a portion of the operations <br />of the. Triangle Housing Development Corporation. Commissioner <br />J. Eugene Rogers seconded the'motion and upon a vote, it was <br />unanimously adopted: Messrs..Hancock,.Rogers, F. Wicker, and <br />G. Wicker all voted for it and no one. voted against it.. <br />-4- <br />
