Commissioner: Hancock will attend the meeting <br />of this board to beheld on November. 6, 1973, and will"report <br />to the Board the action taken. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the sum <br />of $1.;50Q.:00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus <br />in the General Fund to. the 'Social'Se"rvices:Budget for the <br />purposes'of funding the operation of the contract service <br />provided by. the Lee:County Children's Center. Commissioner <br />Hancock seconded the motion and upon.a roll call vote,. <br />Messrs. Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted <br />for .it 'and no one 'voted against it. <br />Commissioner'Franklin D. Wicker reported that the <br />Triangle J Council'of Governments had chartered the Triangle <br />Housing Development'Corporation, a corporationwhich will <br />operate regionwide.as a non-profit 'agency.whose purpose is <br />to provide moderately'priced.housing of good quality for <br />people of limited: means. Lee County needs to' make appoint- <br />ments.with respect to this organization as 'follows`. <br />(A) Tne•general' membership will consist of not <br />more than two-hundred (2,00.),-people.. One hundred (100.) <br />members have, been heretofore appointed representing' Durham,, <br />Orange, and Wake Counties; and an additional one hundred (100.), <br />members need to.beappointed.for Chatham, Johnston, and Lee <br />Counties.. <br />(B The-.Board of Directors will consist of nineteen <br />(19). members. The Chairman of.the.Triangle J Council of <br />Governments is.one member.and each. County will..'appoint three <br />(3.):representatives. One of the representatives is to be <br />appointed by the Board of County Commissioners; one.by:-the <br />municipality or municipalities in Lee. County (mayors 'acting <br />in caucus); and one selected from the general membership of <br />Lee. County. by. the .general. membership, Prom Lee County.. <br />(d) An Executive Committee composed of. the 'officers.' <br />of the corporation and such additional members as required <br />to assure at 'least one- repres'entative;-'from, each county,. <br />The written report 'of.Mr."Nathan'Criss`man, She <br />County:'s.Tax Collector, was presented to the Board and copies <br />were `furnished to each' member. <br />. The written report-of. th'e'.Chairman of the.Agricultural <br />Extension Service was presented tothe Board and copies were <br />distributed to-the members. Mr. Thomas M. Haislip, County. <br />Extension Chairman,.appe'ared before the Board and invited the <br />members. 'to attend the meeting of th'e Sandhill'Area Development <br />Association at Union Pines High School in Moore 'County on <br />November: 5, 1973• <br />The members of the Board of Commissioners were <br />invited to-'attend the Annual Achievement 'Progr'am of the <br />County: Extension Homemakers on Thursday, November 8, 1973, <br />by.Mrs. Faye T. Lewallen, Associate, Home Economics <br />Extension Agent.. <br />Mr. Thomas M.
