Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that <br />community action programs have, in the past, been.paying the <br />Public Health Department about $5',06'..00.1 for family planning. <br />services and that there would possibly be. changes in 'this <br />program,.and this should be. kept in mind. <br />04 <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker,report.ed that in <br />line with the requirement that counties' affiliate with' <br />community action programs within their. region;it will' <br />necessitate Lee County:,from leaving the-Sandhi 'll Community <br />Action Program and that he recommends, that Lee 'County <br />affiliate with Johnston County's Community. Action Program <br />for future operations. <br />The ,Chairman presented a letter from.the President <br />of Central, Carolina Technical'Inst tute. with 'respect to its <br />financial needs in connection with preparing the plans for <br />.its new building. The Board directed.that the letter be <br />delivered to Mr. E. M.'Underwood, Jr., to coordinate and to <br />present his recommendations to.the Board. <br />.Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved the adoption <br />of the following resolution with respect to the roads in the <br />St.. Andrews Subdivision. <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been <br />filed with the.Bo'ard of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee requesting that the above. <br />described road,. the location of which has been. <br />indicated. in red on the attached map, be. added <br />to.the Secondary Road system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />is of th'e opinion that.the above describedroad <br />should be added to the Secondary Road System, <br />if the road meets'minimum standards and criteria <br />established by the.Division.of Highways of the <br />Department of Transportation and Highway Safety <br />for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by. the <br />Board of County Commissioners of the County of <br />Lee that the Division of Highways is hereby <br />requested to review the above described road, <br />and to takeover'the 'road for maintenance if it <br />meets established standards 'and criteria. <br />Commissioner-Hal L. Hancock seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote, it was unanimously,adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D.-Wicker. called to.the <br />attention of the Board that, this Board, the Sanford Board of <br />Aldermen, and the Broadway Commissioners needed to make an <br />appointment of.a lady to be. a member oT the Triangle J <br />Council of Governments Board. Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker: called to.the attention of the.Board of Commissioners <br />the action of the Triangle J Council of Governments in . <br />expressing its interest to.the Governors Coordinating Council <br />on Aging in participating in the nutrition program under <br />Title VII of the Older American Act and.that'the Triangle J <br />Council of Governments staff has been requested to prepare a <br />specific proposal and budget for consideration. <br />=2= <br />
