Fa . ® BOOK 3 f294 0 <br />Dr. Ben Brooks, Mr. Ephriam W. Hoke and Chairman <br />Gordon A. Wicker were appointed to the District Health Board, upon <br />motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Hancock, <br />which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The letter of Mr. W. E. Baker, to the Commissioners, <br />requesting them to seek widening of Carbonton Road was presented to the Board. <br />The sum of $3, 000. 00, was appropriated from the Unappropriated <br />Surplus in the General Fund to the Comprehensive Health Planning Fund, for the <br />purpose of paying Lee County's contribution to the Comprehensive Health Planning <br />Commission for Central North Carolina, upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, <br />seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted, upon a <br />roll call vote. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers and Gordon Wicker all voted <br />for it and no one voted against it. <br />The sum of $5, 966. 00 was appropriated from the Unappropriated <br />Surplus in the General Fund to the Industrial Development Bond Proceeds Fund <br />for the purpose of paying the contract price for the extension of water and sewer <br />line to the Stanadyne Plant as per contract and statement of Blue Contracting <br />Company, upon motion of Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers, seconded by Comm- <br />issioner W. H. Cooper. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers and Gordon Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. When Bond Sales are made at a <br />future date to replenish the account known as the "Industrial Bond Fund", these <br />funds are to be repaid to the General Fund. <br />The Commissioners designated 8:00 o'clock p. m. , Monday, <br />December 17th, 1973, at the Commissioners Room to be the time and place <br />for the holding of a public hearing on the matter of the County's intention to <br />designate the Johnston Community Action Program as the Community Action <br />Agency for Lee County. Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by <br />Commissioner Cooper, the motionvas unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman stated that Commissioner Frank Wicker was in <br />Maryland attending an official meeting with respect to County Planning. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported on his attendance at a <br />program in Chapel Hill with respect to County Landfill operations. <br />Chairman presented to the Board a letter from Mr. John J. <br />Tolson, III, Secretary of North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans <br />Affairs, which requested that the County designate an Emergency Crisis Repre- <br />sentative. Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner <br />Rogers, it was unanimously RESOLVED to appoint Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, to <br />be Lee County's Emergency Crisis Representative. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper offered the following <br />resolution with respect to Lee County's application for a grant from the Division <br />of Lawand Order from the North Carolina Department of Natural and Ecomonic <br />Resources, and moved its adoption. The resolution is as follows: <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />herein called the "Applicant" has thoroughly considered the <br />problem addressed in the subgrant application entitled <br />Lee County/Sanford Communications and has reviewed <br />the project described in the application; and <br />-2- <br />
